The German Innovation Award is granted by technology-focused German companies to encourage collaboration between German and Japanese industry and academia and to provide support for young researchers in Japan.

The Gottfried Wagener Prize honors young scientists of any nationality active in Japan for path-breaking and application-oriented research work in the areas of Transportation Systems and Vehicles, Materials, Life Sciences and Healthcare; and Energy & Industry.
