Our Research Centre
AIMPLAS is a Technology Centre located in the Valencia Technology Parc in Paterna (Valencia) in Spain, with more than 25 years of experience helping companies in the plastic sector. Our centre is a reference in Europe in plastic materials and related technologies being the technology centre with more accreditations in plastic materials in Spain. Between our mission are adding value to companies to generate wealth and employment, and adding value to the society to improve the quality of life and ensure environmental sustainability. We are a team of more than 125 highly qualified professionals, and we dispose of over 9,500 m2 facilities with state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation. Its technological developments and its research are focussed in the main Societal Challenges as health, industry 4.0, circular economy, climate change, food security, agriculture and silviculture and sustainable mobility.
AIMPLAS has a wide experience in transformation processes through European and National projects working in areas as nanofibers, cellulose, lignin – based materials, in the production of biopolymers from lignocellulosic waste, in the conversion of different streams from biorefineries into acids used as precursors for bio – based and biodegradable polymers, and in the development of multiple biobased solutions to create different industrial applications from different kind of waste. Several European projects in which AIMPLAS has taken part related to this area are FP7 NMP projects as Bugworkers (246449), KBBE projects as BRIGIT (KBBE – 2012 – 6 – 311935) and BIOREFINE – 2G (613771) and H2020 BBI projects as AGRIMAX (720719) or ENZOX2 (720297). In addition to European cooperation projects, AIMPLAS has been participating also in R&D National cooperation projects as LIGNO-PRIZED funded by CDTI.
